Bedroom Makeover

For many reasons I do not like decorating bedrooms. The main reason really is that one has to deal with a massive piece of furniture that’s called a bed. I love sleeping, I love being in bed but I don’t like beds as in furniture.

Our home has four bedrooms, one we use as a guest bedroom and dressing room for Bo, one is my bedroom and the other two in the attic are Bo his rooms where he sleeps and paints. We don’t share a bedroom as we are not good co-sleepers. I sleep very light and Bo is a snorer. Thus we always need a house with at least 3 bedrooms, it’s a pain but alas we sleep so much better this way.

As with all the rooms in the house I started white and slowly I work my way round with patterns and colours.

I’ve ordered the new Bemz & Boråstapeter collab slipcover for my end of the bed IKEA STOCKSUND bench and painted my bed (also an old IKEA one as you can see in the top left image) in Painting The Past outdoor paint in the colour Rosewood. I now need curtains and I’d love that Projektityyny quilt but both are pricey so I’ll do that in stages. I have my eye on some really lovely linen curtains that come out cheaper as I were to sew them myself. I also really fancy some new bed lights and the wall mouthed swing lamps by OneFortyThree are on my wishlist. I’m going to leave the walls as they are, it’s Strong White, the paneling is in Shadow White and my chest of drawers is in Vert de Terre all by Farrow & Ball. The Morris & Co Mallow Dusky Rose wallpaper is on one of the walls as a feature wall and I’m also going to leave that up and not wallpaper the whole room as I find it to busy.

Lots to keep me busy. The curtains are ordered as they were on sale and it saved me almost €100 on two sets of linen curtains.

Love, Yvonne
