Products Part One

Last Monday we’ve started a new client decorating project and it’s costing all our muscles and time, hence the lack of updates this week and for that my sincere apologies. Most of the time my life isn’t very predictable and what seemed like a “oh we’ll do that in no-time job” ends up in something massive. It also ended up with my hair and skin covered in white paint for the past 5 days which made me think of a blog post as I’m so happy with the products I use that I’d like to share with you.

First and most important of all, all the products I use must be cruelty-free, preferable vegan and made with botanicals. On Cruelty-Free Kitty you can find a list of all cruelty-free brands and a list of brands to avoid. It’s very helpful so if you are all new to this I could highly recommend checking the lists.

Hands

Ok so let’s start at the beginning as we work hard with our hands we need to take care of them. We always have a bottle of Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash and the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm at our kitchen sink. I also use the Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Wash for after gardening as there’s finely milled pumice in the soap that gives a mild scrub and it smells so gorgeous as I love bergamot. For our loo-guests I love using Bramley Little B hand wash. Bramley also do a really great Little B balm that I always carry around and smear on anything that’s sore. It’s called Magic Balm and it’s truly magical, lips, hands, cuts … anything works.

Skin

I don’t use make-up daily, I only use mascara and eyeliner when I go out. I might use a gloss lipliner but no lipstick. I have very natural dark features, I have a lot of freckles in my face and I find it really unnecessary to put on make-up as I believe it’s not good for my skin. I do however been taking care of my skin very religiously for a very long time. I use a day cream, a night cream and when the sun is out a sun cream. My favourite brand is Comfort Zone, I use their RENIGHT CREAM after my bath before I go to bed and I use HYDRAMEMORY Rich Sorbet Cream every morning. I also scrub my face every other day with their ESSENTIAL SCRUB. That’s basically my daily face routine, when I go out in summer I swap the sorbet cream with their Sun Sole Face Cream 50+. I’m also in love with the TRANQUILLITY line, oh my what a gorgeous smell. I even have a little candle and roomspray in my bathroom as I love it so much. I use the body lotion daily and there’s always a small tube of hand cream and roll-on in my bag.

My beautician also uses Comfort Zone products, so if you are local book an appointment at Skin First in Lommel or ask Ante for samples.

Make-Up

If I do use make-up I use a simple liquid eyeliner with mascara combination both from ILIA. A bit of a tinted face serum and tinted lip oil in powder pink both from Typology. For nail polish I use Green from Manucurist. My favourite colours are Poppy Red and Peonie.

Hair

As I have a mixture of my mother’s afro curls and my father’s very thin blonde straight hair I really have to take care of my hair as it will quickly turn dry, fizzy and it will break. I use the LOVE CURL Shampoo and the LOVE CURL Conditioner from Davines (the mother brand of Comfort Zone). I style my hair with a mask and this is not for all hair types but it works out great for me. I use the NOUNOU Hair Mask from Davines, I apply it on towel wet hair and just leave it there during the day. All bottles come in 250 ml and 75 ml perfect for traveling.

It all doesn’t come cheap but all products are lasting a long time. For example the moisturisers will get me through 6-8 months, the shampoo about 3-4 months (washing every 3 days) the conditioner about 2-3 months (using it every other day). You need a little for great results so in the end you pay the same as a cheap/bad products that will not last long.

Part two of products will be about home cleaning products and how I keep my home all white, dust-free, cat hair free and clean.

Love, Yvonne xxx
