As it is internationally women’s day today and as it was world book day yesterday I thought it would be nice to list my favourite books written by women.
Women Holding Things - Maira Kalman
I love Maira, I own all her books, even the children books, and this one is once again exceptional. Women are holding so many things, not just items, and Maira illustrated it so beautifully.
Wilding - Isabella Tree and Angela Harding
This new edition of Isabella’s book is now illustrated by one of my favourite illustrators, Angela Harding. This book will guide you how to rewild through the beautiful illustrations and the text by Isabella Tree.
Heritage Style - Selina Lake
My friend’s latest book is my favourite of all the books she wrote. Selina and I met years ago when she made “Pretty Pastel Style”. She came to shoot in my home and ever after that we became friends. I can highly recommend all of her books and I believe you should purchase them all, but start with Heritage Style.
The Cook’s Atelier - Marjorie Taylor and Kendall Smith Franchini
Marjorie en Kendall are an American mother and daughter duo who moved to France and started The Cook’s Atelier in Beaune. They host cooking workshop, have a beautiful shop and a gorgeous instagram account. It’s still on my “to go list”.
I’m also struggling with Substack and how to go forward. I’m really excited that I get daily new subscribers but unfortunately most of them are not paid. Victoria of sfgirlbybay wrote this piece about it and it 100% describes my situation.
So as from now I will update for free on yvestown.com and I will see how long I can last. It will definitely not be as frequent as it was. There will be extra posts available over here for the few remaining paid subscribers.
Love, Yvonne
