I often receive e-mail from complete strangers. Most of the time I don't know what to say or what to write back and sometimes I really, honestly, don't like the products or the thoughts they're trying to "sell" me. But all those e-mails are much appreciated because sometimes you get to meet people like Dallas Clayton.
I never met him before, I don't know him but I spent almost all day yesterday reading his archives and I pre-ordered his an awesome book because I'm already a big fan of his work.
I really love this Dallas thought:
Help
If you took all the time you spent complaining
about feeling like a better person
and learned how to make furniture with your hands
and fix your own car
you would be a better person
and everyone would know it
and you would be happy.
I've been a big fan of Laura Stoddart's illustrations and books for a long time and it was just recently that I came across this photo of Laura in her dining room and was so surprised that she has actually the posture and slender of most of her illustrations. I also really love her dining room stetting.
As much as there are people who don't like this sort of humor or dribble - I don't see it as humor particularly, it's good philosophy and a really simple clear look on life - I find Karl Pilkington to be very inspirational and it fascinates me to listen to what he has to say. I find his views on subjects like bees and ants and grubs that are eating biscuit hilarious. It's all quite philosophic, taking time to think about stuff that matter or doesn't matter - why are grubs eating biscuit, would they have eaten biscuit if human weren't around, would there be grubs at all if there weren't human or biscuit?
It's hard to introduce him in one post so maybe you should start by reading his blog.
Or watch one of the 3 Minute Wonder documentries he has done.
