Home & Soul Improvement

So I thought I was ready to be back to be a full-time blogger but apparently I wasn’t.

Everything we were doing in the house was left for the sudden death of my father in law. So when we came home after the funeral we were quite shocked about the mess, unfinnished projects and even dirt we left behind. Regular readers know that Bo and I are very organised and clean people so to us having dust bunnies, spattered cath food over the floor and dirty toilets is a nightmare … a nightmare is understated … it’s the end of the world.

So we were at the end of our world, we had to get back on track.

We worked for 2 weeks very long days and we’ve accomplished so much with the help of our friend. Living room finished (only the decorating is unfinished), bookcase made, my office moved, office bookcases sold and swapped …

The garden was overcrowding the greenhouse so we’ve moved that to a sunnier spot.

I’ve painted so much until I had blisters, I’ve made many lunches, done a massive amount of box unpacking, done some much needed crying and restyled my blog as I was having technical theme problems. And now I’m officially back to be being a full-time blogger. So much happened in the meantime and I have so much to share with you.

Thank you so much for visiting me, for your patience, the sweet comments and the lovely e-mail.

Have a wonderful weekend xox

Goodbye Frans

On Friday the 12th of April at 15:18 my father in law said his last goodbyes to his loved ones. We were all there when the doctor relieved him from his life, thanks to modern thinking.

Blog life and work is on standby until he’s cremated on Saturday.

Lots of love,

Just That You Know

My home is upside down, inside out and all of the drawers have exploded, it’s a mess. It’s a four and half year’s mess of stuff being in boxes and rooms to be completed. I don’t know if you’ve ever renovated an old home so I don’t know if you know about the renovation blues … well I had a good old renovation sob last night. You have tears and you have ugly tears, I had some pretty ugly tears last night. Sitting in the middle of and old desk, a new potential desk and all the contents of drawers that needed to be transported to other drawers. It wasn’t a pretty sight …

The reason for all this chaos is that we’ve both been away from our home during March for work and because of my father in law.

There’s a massive tumour growing his stomach, it’s still growing and he’s quietly dying. Leaving the wish, now that he is still aware, to organize his own cremation. It’s a roller-coaster of emotions when picking out the clothes he’s going to wear, the music he wants to be played, the seating arrangement of the family … I’ve never seen someone close die so slowly, my father got ill on Monday and died on Tuesday so this different, this is proper saying goodbye. It’s quiet and friendly and I wish for everyone to die like this.

Normally Bo and I host Easter brunch for Bo’s family but this year we obviously have to do it at Bo’s parents. So there’s not much Easter festivity going on at the blog, I hope you understand.

The living room is slowly growing into a me room. I’ve got my room white, my sofa downstairs and my nook back.

Lots of love xox

My Debut

Men alive I’m recovering from yet another vicious cold. I think it’s one of the worst I’ve ever had.

Well the worst cold I’ve ever had was in January/February of 1998 while I was about to move to Denmark to study architecture while I had a fling with a guy named, Piet, just one month before I met Boris. Those were some crazy months as I recall that Piet (whom I had a 2 weekend-stand with) had to drop medicine in my eyes as my tear ducts were broken due to hard coughing. While I met Piet (the brother of one of my flat mates) I was on the ment and was planning my Denmark life so I didn’t choose to go on and start a relationship with him. But as it happens just a month later, exactly the 14th of March, I met Bo and knew I had to blow off my whole future Danish life as I met the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. That’s why I never forget that cold, or became an architect.

So finally back to blogging again as I have so much to share with you.

Let me first tell you what have kept me busy the past few weeks and some weeks before Christmas and what is going to keep me busy for the next few weeks.

Remember this post? It got so much better after that post.

I’m going to be on TV after all. Nothing fake, nothing weird but something so fun and artsy that I can’t wait to watch it myself. It’s a documentary on bloggers and what keeps us busy as bloggers. For a period of 12 weeks Belgian viewers will watch me bake, garden, shop, visit friends, see me paint my living room and travel with me to London where I’ll speak at Meet The Blogger. But they can also watch Sofie from Fashionata travel to New York City to attend Fashion Week and learn how to sew a skirt from Mamasha. This documentary will air on a channel that currently re-runs The Gilmore Girls … do I have to say more?

Today we had a meeting about the official website which will launch sometime next week. Also tomorrow episode ONE will be made which will air early March. The word excitement is an understatement of how I feel right now as I’m super excited and love working with the team in the image above, shot in the home of my friend, Roel, last week.

Thank you so much for commenting on that one post. It made me so aware of what I do and don’t want. I so believe I’m moving towards the right direction, it makes me happy.

Lots more to come.

Pinterest

I just want to let you know that I am back on Pinterest.

Last year I got cold feet and pulled the plug. But now that Pinterest changed their policies I feel happy to pin along again.

This still doesn’t change my opinion about linking back properly and giving credits to those who deserve the credits.
