Through the Archway

There's an archway in my kitchen that leads to the hideous sun room that the previous owners build in the seventies. The archway was once a door but I thought an archway would be much cooler as the sun room could become part of the kitchen.

It took us a while but we are finally realizing this plan.

Step one: we've bought some old doors and Bo is turning them into a pantry. I'm going to paint them in the same shade of blue as the toilet door to add some colour to all the white. I love popping colours.

I love these doors, I even love them as they are now.

Step two: all that window will go and they will be replaced by those doors that lean against the wall. There's also a cute little window there, ready to be fitted next to the pantry. Our carpenter made them so I can open them to the outside, and as the walls will be massive, I'll have this amazing big windowsill where I can grow my herbs. And each room, of course, needs a princess light, it just does - don't know why it's there.

Oh the thought of this boot room to be finished, the little porch that will lead straight into the garden .... oh spring!

But all in good time.

All what I see on this site is amazing. I love the doors too. You sure have a gay boy with golden hands!!

I have two possible combos that I think sound very tasty:

Oh my gosh I have major door envy. I have to say, they look stunning as they are. I vote not to paint them if you're still thinking about it. The colors look like they really go with the look of the room already and they have such a beautiful age to them. You're a lucky duck :)

the 2 doors are just so so beautiful like this, don't paint them!!

Oh, this room looks so lovely, I love the first picture looking through the archway. I think the doors look great as they are, lovely muted pastels. Can't wait to see it all finished!

Hi Yvonne,

I love your house! You have such a good taste in decorating.

Thank you for a lovely blog!

this looks great, i can't wait to see the doors in action.also, I don't know if you will answer this question but i've just spent my entire weekend trying to match the pink paint you showed on the walls of your studio on the old blog. luckily i wrote down the paint color, but not the paint brand, and none of the stores i went to were able to find information on that color. I bought 4 different pots of paint trying to match the color (expensive!) and still, unfortunately, not the right look. I've been wanting to paint some walls in my house that color ever since you first posted that beautiful picture and now i finally am able to do it. so, if there is any more information you can offer about the pink paint you used on your walls, i would really really appreciate that.thank you.

love it. can't wait to see the end result!

What a beautiful kitchen with such a feeling of light and space. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result. The doors remind me of neapolitan ice cream - a good thing!

Oh wat gaaf wordt het! Ben heel benieuwd naar het eindresultaat!!

This room will be stunning - whatever you do with the doors. I equally could love them painted blue, left as they are or painted in chalky pastel replicas of their current colours - but you have a vision for it already don't you and I just know it will look fabulous. I would love a pantry in our kitchen - the house had one originally when it was built in the 30s, but it's gone now.
I'm curious - what is the flooring made from in your kitchen? Can't tell if it's polished/painted concrete, rubber, linoleum? It looks great whatever it is.
Looking forward to seeing the transformation in this room (and secretly hoping the princess light makes the final cut).
Have a lovely week.

Hej Yvonne, oh die deuren in de tuinkamer zijn mooi!

Oh are you reallyreally gonna paint those doors??? I adore them just as they are. You're a brave woman ;-))

What a fabulous idea for your pantry! How exciting! Love all the natural light.

Love your archway really beautiful and those doors are fantatstic. My partner built a wonderful pantry cupboard using some cupboard doors from an overstairs cupboard removed during our loft conversion. It's so lovely to reuse old things isn't it!

This space looks beautiful. I also love the doors. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Yvonne - Perfection, as usual. Happy New Year from Australia! x

What a great project, I hope it all goes smoothly. I love creative renovation projects! Xx

hi! I do belive you will do it great, no matter what you decide! I just recently discoverd your blog, and happy happy joy! I love it! you are the best! and you inspire me so! lucky for me I managed to copy some pics of your kitchen, before you "started clean", it is in my inspiration-folder for our kitchen-renovation! thank you thank you so much for being you!
love from sweden!

Yvonne, Yvonne... I want to be inside your head! :) ;)

How fabulously light and airy your home is, simply gorgeous ! I feel inspired to sort this house out rather than sitting here brooding about it! Thank you! - Allie Cat x

Think you made the right decision - the arch works really well!

Wow. This space is just GORGEOUS. It's so crisp and refreshing. And I adore those doors. Along with everyone else, I agree they are perfect as is! If you don't mind the scuffing (which I love so I'm a bit biased)
I have to admit I'm a little sad all those windows will go. I'm a sucker for massive windows. They do limit storage space though so I totally understand ;)
Oh and I agree with Fina on the cupboard tutorial. Yours is so beautiful!

Lovely doors! you really dont have to paint them. I think they are goreous as they are!
Now, I have a question, no rather a request :) Please please write a post about how the kitchen cabinet by the stove was built. I am in the thinking of building one myself (got windows and everything) but really don´t know where to begin!
Thank you for a lovely blog!

It looks beautiful!
Curious about the outcome of the rest.
The old doors are looking fantastic, love them

I clean it every day, so it hardly takes time as I keep up with it. I'll do a proper post on my cleaning very soon.

How do you keep that gorgeous kitchen so clean? I agree the doors look lovely as they are.

I like the doors as they are too. They look great against the clean white lines of the archway. I'm sure you'll make them look even better though. You have a lovely house. It's so bright and happy looking. How I'd love my home to be. x

Your kitchen will be beautiful!
I wonder how Yvonne manages to keep her kitchen clean before such a reform, your kitchen is so clean!

Lucky it's only the cat that snoozes on the sofa all day :)
You have so much energy the two of you. I've got no idea how you do all this renovating.

Wauw het ziet er nu al mooi uit!

It looks like it will be beautiful!

Those old doors are fab! Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Wauw Yvonne, het ziet er nu al prachtig uit. Ik ben benieuwd naar het eindresultaat!
