This is the vegetable rack I've bought in Whitstable last weekend.
I couldn't resist consulting Google to find other Tala vegetable racks. I only found one other, in green on eBay, for too much money in a rather poor condition. So I feel lucky that I had this one for just £14 in fire engine red, fire engine red people!!

I actually does store fruit and veg now and hangs just of the left side of the archway in the new part of the kitchen what used to be the sunroom, are you still with me?

Did you see the photo of this wall in yesterdays post, with the bare white walls? It needed a repeat of wallpaper just like I have on the other side of the kitchen (featured here on lovely Will's blog). So when I got home late last night Bo surprised me and wallpapered the wall. Never let a man go who surprises you with something like that, never!

The doors are painted as well. I was going to not paint them, I was going to paint them blue and now they are white and I'm still not convinced if they will stay white. We need to complete the rest of this part of the kitchen. Boy, do I need a good name for this room as "This Part of The Kitchen" doesn't flow so nice does it? |
Great idea, looks lovely! I have a larger green one & no use for it in our city apartment -- I might need to re-think my space ;)
What an amazing find! I collect vintage Tala and have a special fondness for any kitchenalia with red or in red. The ebay prices tend to be way too high for the things like veggie stores and bread bins but such things are very scarce in Canada. I would call the room the pantry but maybe that comes from my North American perspective. Of course your man is a keeper! I have been reading your blog for years but I think that this is my first comment -maybe this was the perfect post for me!
This is just beautiful but what really caught me eye was those super cute shoes beside your red boots!!! I just love thoughtful staging like that... unless that's where you keep those shoes, but I doubt it! haha!
Omgosh, what a great idea! I'm battling with small space in the kitchen area so this is such wonderful inspiration! Thank you for sharing! Love how it looks against the wallpaper, as well:) -A

I think your man is a keeper for sure. I love that wall with the paper and that splash of red is perfect. I love to see people use an item for other than it's intended purpose.
Of course I love the wallpaper but I also love how you styled it with wellies AND heels. So fun! (Thanks for linking up too!)
Love love love all of it!! Love the rack, love he wallpaper, love the bucket.
The doors are very pretty and bright, although I loved them when they were their old self too. And the beauty of the thing is, they're all yours so if you feel like changing the colour, you can. Enjoy your beautiful home (and your handyman ;-) )
This is adorable! I was wondering where the wallpaper is from. I love it!
Thanks,
Jenny
Perfect - I love the fire engine red - and also the wallpaper!
Maybe you could post something about were to get those wallpapers sometime? I have no idea were to get cath kidston wallpaper for example without having a credit card or going to britain...

oooh it's all just gorgeous! I'd call it something chic like a garde manger or a butler's pantry! definitely a keeper, as is your lovely home.
Lovely! Bo is very sweet! I would call your "area" either a pantry or a scullery.
as it always hits you in your choices Yvonne... congratulations.

If it's the food storage area I'd call it the larder.
I like the word larder !!

The veg rack is amazing in that striking red and looks just perfect hanging there!
I like the name 'pantry' too, sounds just right for such a lovely space.
Can I please ask you who the print is by (or from) of the Squashes shown on your kitchen wall on Will's blog?
Thanks
Wauw voor het rek en wauw voor Bo. Ontzettend gaaf.
LAURA ASHLEY - not mine but here for a submitted photo shoot that will take place Sunday. I want them BADLY MADLY although they look really trashy on me LOL
love it. all of it.
I just want to know where those dainty red heels came from!!
Hi Yvonne,
I like pantry; another name which describes the same thing is 'larder', both are words used to describe small storerooms for foods.
If you paint the doors, it could become the 'blue door room' (just picked blue randomly!)
Good luck deciding!
Te gek, dat rek! Past helemaal bij jullie. En de deuren zijn prachtig zo wit!
I think the picture showing the entry with the fantastic rain boots next to the fabulous red heels is one of my favorites ever. Thank you for that!
Love it! What a find... and it goes with the room really nicely too :) x
The vegetable rack blends in so well, what a great find!
I don't think I will ever tire of the sudden happy urge I always get to jump through the monitor and into one of your darling rooms or garden when you post your photos.
You've got that magical knack of inviting that desire to pop out everytime you post.
I'm so glad you are enjoying your new blog. I am too!
... oh, and three cheers to Bo... as always.
Hej Yvonne!

How about calling 'this part of the kitchen' the pantry. I dont suppose it matters if the name is accurate, I think it has a retro feel that matches the retro/country feel of your home.
Love the photos, the rack and the wallpaper!
Dawn
