Plus 3 Minus 1

Today was a bad day.

When I woke up in the morning and looked out of the kitchen doors to check on the chicken, Annabelle (one of the chicken) was laying down in the middle of the coop with her head down and her bum up. It looked quite odd so I went outside to check on her, she was having it rough.

Yesterday I was driving and eating liquorice and all of a sudden I had part of my tooth in my liquorice. I phoned my dentist and she could see me today. So I left the chicken at 12:00 hoping Annabelle would be fine by the time I got back.

When my dentist looked at my tooth she was rather in a state of shock and told me she had to get it out completely as there was an infection in my root canal, she could do that next week. I told her to do it straight away - you can better get over and done with these things. So after quite a lot of injections she started to yank and it didn't work, so she yanked some more and more and more and it felt like she was yanking out my entire skull. After 15 minutes the tooth was out and part of my skull with it. Now I have to walk around with a tooth out for 6 whole weeks and look like a pirate, aye ...

When I drove back home, my mouth stiff and blood dripping, I got home to find Annabelle dead, stone dead. With the stiff blood dripping mouth I had to get Annabelle out of the coop and the coop cleaned so that her two sisters could remain happy.

I do feel better now and my mouth and tooth are not aching so I'll be fine, the chicken will be fine.

It's such a shame she died just 3 days after we've revamped their coop because the chicken will be photo models next week.

Even Boo did a coop quality inspection while the ladies were on the move.

There was nothing wrong they all looked beautiful, big, fluffy, good colour and sheen.

RIP Annabelle we sort of loved you.

Things can only get better!
Heel mooi gedaan! Het ziet er zo gezellig uit!
groetjes

what a craptactular day :( what kind of chickens are they? they are a beautiful colour and I love their fluffy behinds, such great shape. Perhaps when I get my own coop later in the year I will have to get these beauties.

I love the fact that you feed the "girls" spiral macaroni and cherry tomatoes. so sorry about your loss : (

rip little annabelle and enjoy the big chicken coop in the sky. ;p

Sorry about your crappy day :( Poor chicken, RIP Annabelle, it looks like she had a nice place to live and good people to care for her while she was around.

Yikes ... what a day. Hope today is much, much better.

Oh that's sad poor chicken at least she had a good happy life with you! Brave lady at the dentist, I would have wept!

I know I said it on Instagram, but I've been thinking about you and poor
Annabelle. It's the price we pay for keeping chickens, I hate it, but it's worth it in the end. And then to hear about your tooth! I'm glad the day is over for you, and here's hoping the rest of the week is much better. Just get an eye patch and pretend you are a pirate :)

We lost one of our Orpingtons to a bird of prey last week. My 12 year old son reacted quickly so at least it didn't take it away or do anything to it except kill it. We buried her in the back yard but its very sad. I'm sorry to hear of your loss too. Take care.

Our Yvonne, it's hard to have to pull a tooth, and even worse one of his three chickens died that sad day .... but everything passes and life goes on, his life is beautiful everything will be fine ..
Until next post ...

Groetjes

indeed a rough day. your gardsen pictures make my mornign happy though . Hope you do not have too much pain today ...

Dear Yvonne,

I'm sorry about poor Annabelle. How sad!
I hope you feel a lot better today!!
best wishes,
Duni

When I saw the title and the picture of Boo checking it out, I thought Boo might have taken on a chicken! Hope you're feeling better soon and RIP Annabelle

Oh I'm so sorry. Sounds like the worst day ever. :( Wish I could offer you more than my consolations and my hope that things will feel better soon.

Sleep well, little Annabelle xx

I´m so sorry to hear about Annabelle. :( I hope the rest of the week just gets better and better. Take care and stay strong my friend.

So sorry to hear about Annabel, you have had such a tough day! Hope you get a chance to relax this evening.

Sorry to read about your chicken, sounds like it was one of the less finer days... but you have written it up perfectly. Brought a smile to my face to read "RIP Annabelle we sort of loved you".

Hope the rest of your week turns around. Xx

What an awful day you've had. Sending you a hug xxx

Send you (((hugs))) You sound like you could do with one.

Groetjes Petra,

Poor Annabell. I have one old girl left the same type as yours. Your last photo made me laugh, I love chickens they are funny little things. Mine trully makes me laugh everyday just watching her run cracks me up everytime.
I hope that is the end of the bad things.

Oh, NO! I feel for you Y!

A big kiss to you, Yvonne, from portugal.

Ah shit man!

Pleased you managed to get the tooth sorted (eventually!) but I'm so saddened to read of Annabelle's passing. Hugs from London.

Oh Yvonne! I wish you recover soon! Bad days happen, then good days come ahead! xo

Oh Yvonne, wat een nare dag! Dikke knuffel voor jou. Xxx

I'm so sorry Yvonne! You did the right thing with your tooth though, doing it right away...Ugh, I guess you can't actually eat a chicken when it keels over like that? Wishing you a much better tomorrow!!

You've had so much bad luck in one day, that you must now be due lots of good luck. So good things will probably happen to you for the rest of the week.

Do tell us what that is strung up between the trees. Is it peanuts for the birds. It looks very stylish.

Best wishes
Primrose

Wow, that does sound like a rough day. Hope things are better tomorrow.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Anabelle, am sure she was well loved.
To lose a chicken and a tooth in one day is very bad.
Love your blog.

Poor Annabelle and poor you! Your garden is lovely - a very nice place to be a chicken :-)

. . . A hug was meant to be sent off to you, but it got lost in my tears while writting my message to you below.

So here it is now:

A hug! A very warm hug!

Well, damn.

Gulp.

What a horribly rotten day for fluffy Annabelle and for your mouth. And for your heart and nerves

I sort of love your chickens too. Ok, a lot.

. . . and yes, indeed . . may your darling pet rest in peace.

Love to you. Much love to you, Yvonne.

. . .

Wat ontzettend naar Yvonne!

I'm sort of thinking about getting chicken!!!!
But it's so sad When things like this happen, hate that part!Hate the dentist as well....glad I wasn't in your shoes today!!!!
Hope everythig's better now:)

Sorry about your chicken annabelle : ( Really sorry about the tooth and awful extraction I sympathise with you I have had it done the injections didn,t work so really know where you are at..ARRRRGH POOR PIRATE..fellow buccaneer .Clare.x

Awwww, poor chicken. That is so sad! It strange how we get attached to our pets, isn't it?
Stay strong,
Esther.

Awww it's so sad for the hen. Hope the other two will be fine. As for your tooth, hope it's not too painful. Some days are better than others...
