We were in the UK the past few days.
I had tickets to see Johnny Flynn perform in Ashford last November but as Johnny was in a play the concert got rescheduled to the 21st. Quite good as I also had tickets for the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibit in The National Gallery in London on the 22nd. So we combined the two and it turned out to be a great weekend.
We had a good old day to explore Whitstable for the very first time and we loved it. There's such a crafty scene going on there with many arts & crafts shops on Oxford Street and High Street but also lots of brocante all along Oxford Street.

We visited the 'Seaside Brocante Fair' in St Mary's Hall. It's on every Saturday and vendors sell pretty brocante. It's not that big, as I hoped it would be, but lovely nonetheless. I bought a brilliant vegetable rack and an enamel bucket.
Park on Shaftesbury Road and walk through a small alley straight to St Mary's and Oxford street.

I'm going to tell you more about that wall and the vegetable rack tomorrow as it will transform overnight.
I've fallen in love with Whitstable with her beautiful concept shops like Frank, the seaside huts, Whitstable Castle where I had a lovely spot of hot chocolate and all the beautiful brocante shops on every corner. I can highly recommend to drive there in a car with a big boot. |
I've been following your blog for a little while now and love your colour choices. I was very please to see a familiar sight of Wheelers Oyster Bar in Whitstable as I live not far from there and make weekly trips there to delivery my crafts to a lovely little shop called Taking the Plunge which is just a few doors down from Wheelers, hope you had a chance to visit it. Great pictures as usual!
A beautiful collection of photographs you have put together! I love the sherbies next to the yellow fisherman sign! perfect! ...and the facade and signage on the oyster shop! Brilliant colours! red, pink, yellow and grey!
Love it, love it, love it!
Love Whitstable! It took me back to my university days in Canterbury when a whole load of us lived out there. Love the new wall.
wauw zeg wat een mooie foto's, die kleuren, mijn lichtelijk depresieve buuf roept dat ze vandaag d'r pil niet inneemt, haha hier wordt een mens blij van..thanx.
lovely post. we just moved back to our house in whitstable this week, and i am so happy that we did x the sound of gulls and fresh sea breezes is just what i needed.
be sure to visit the Vintage-On-Sea shop, full of vintage tea dresses and jewellery... on the seafront near Keams Yard. one of my favs.

Ontzettend leuk zo'n uitstapje tussendoor naar Engeland. Zelf ga ik in mei en juli weer die kant op. Dankzij jouw mooie en écht Engelse foto's verheug ik mij er extra op.
groeten van Madelief
Terrific photos from your get-away. Crisp and colorful!
I love the store front of the oyster bar. So beautiful!
Wat een prachtfoto's! Fijn dat je zo'n heerlijk weekend hebt gehad!
I live in Kent and Whitstable is definitely one of my favorite places. Next time you visit check out a lovely small coffee place/ eatery called 'The windy corner', not far from the main little harbour where you took your pictures, it's fab!!
Britain is great! ga deze tip onthouden ;)
That place just looks beyond adorable! I must visit next time I'm in England!
Lovely: I like to think they redecorated the Oyster Bar just for you! x
Mooie fotos, en Engeland is zo mooi
Great post - I love the photos. I've been thinking of going to Whitstable for ages now. I thought perhaps a weekend away there might be nice for me and husband sometime so thanks for sharing this :) Oh and how was the Da Vinci exhibition?
