Hello

My name is Yvonne Eijkenduijn. I live with Boris (who I affectionately call Bo) our cat, Boo Boo (sounds in Dutch like oe oe not oo oo, Yogi Bear's buddy) and 3 buff hens, in an old gentleman's house from 1896 in Lommel, Belgium very close to the Dutch border. I'm currently busy to change the house to an old ladies home replacing a lot of brown with pink and white, my two favourite colours.

I was born and raised in The Netherlands but since my late teens I've lived in America, England, Suriname and now in Belgium. I've decorated quite a few homes, raised 12 kittens, fell in love only three times and baked a lot of cakes.

I try to live each day like freshly shaven legs under clean sheets.

The Blog

You may wonder where all the contents of my blog has gone to. After 7 years of blogging, moving home and several blog makeovers I started to loose interest. On the first of January 2012 I started all over, I need a blank canvas to work on.

I've gained many loyal readers over the years and made some amazing friendships through this blog. I'm grateful for all the people who feel inspired by my words and photography and I hope to keep doing so for many years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

What camera(s) do you use?
I use a Nikon D80, a Nikon D7000 and a Canon PowerShot S95. For the Nikons I use the following lenses: Sigma (for Nikon) 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens (for food and portraits) Nikkor 28 mm f/2.8 (indoors wide angle) Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8 (mostly for on the road as it's small but not great, I recommend getting the Nikkor 28 mm instead) Nikon 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 (standard lens for outdoors and landscapes). I shoot tethered in Adobe Aperture/Bridge and edit my photos in Adobe Photoshop.

Where did you buy the green and pink pendants?
I've bought them at Cath Kidston in 2006 but they are no longer for sale.

I'm going on holiday to London, what is your favourite Cath Kidston Shop?

How do I paint my floors/doors/anything, how do I wallpaper?
I advice you to pay a visit to your local DIY or decoration/paint shop as they can advice you how to do these things yourself. You can read about my technique here and here.

I do get a lot of e-mail and sometimes it just takes forever to answer them. It may take up to a month (or two). I don't reply when a questions is asked that can be read here, I also don't reply to e-mails I don't know the language of and sometimes I don't reply at all.
