This is a pattern I designed years ago but I recently discovered that it’s no longer on my site.
I’ve made these coasters using linen yarn I bought from Linnet, a beautiful Japanese linen shop. Their fabrics are just gorgeous, I especially love the linen towel cloth and the linen waffle. I discovered this shop years ago and just found the yarns in a bag and had to make something. The antique Burleigh platter was one of my latest UK antique shop finds and will go up a wall in the new house.
You will need
Annell Cotton 8 – you can use any other lightweight yarn, but if you get thicker yarn the pattern will not have the same proportions.
3.0 – 3.5 mm hook
6 ch and join with sl st to form a ring.
2 ch, 23 dc round into the ring, close with a sl st (total of 24 dc)
4 ch (counts as 1 dc + 2 ch) 1 dc in the closing sl st of the previous row
1 ch * skip 2 ch, in the next ch: 1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc, 1 ch * Reapeat 7x from * to *. Close round with a sl st in the 2nd ch (of 4 ) of the start.
2 ch (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc under the 2 ch of the previous row, 1 sc under the 1 ch * 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc as before, 1 sc as before *. Reapeat 7 x from * to *. Close with a sl st in 2nd ch (of 2) of the start.
No build up with ch as before, directly 3 dc, 1 ch, 3 dc under the 2 ch of the previous row, 1 sc to the left and right of the sc of the previous row. Repeat 8 x and close with a sl st in the 1st ch of the previous row.
There’s a full picture description over on Mollie Makes how to make these coasters.
