To be honest I thought the whole room switcheroo was going to take ages but instead it went really fast. For the past two years Bo has been in a difficult place and with that in mind I got used to his very slow beat. But as since January he’s found his groove back and all of a sudden he’s Speedy Gonzales again. He’s build a whole around the door bookcase in the former dining room, that’s now our living room. He also build a garden shed, more about that in another post and he managed to do a whole lot of commissioned painting work. He’s definitely got his groove back, good for him … and for me.
Before we could start emptying the former living room it was necessary to build this bookcase as most of our books were in that bookcase. Bo build an exact copy of the one in the former living room. This one is slightly larger as the wall is a bit wider. After that was done I painted the whole room over as it was 7 years ago since the last coat. The walls are in Farrow & Ball Slipper Satin and all the woodwork and floor in Farrow & Ball All White.
Most of the decorating is done in this room but it still needs a few bits and pieces. I bought this IKEA sofa with white and blue stripes. I love how it looks against that Cath Kidston wallpaper. I need to find a chest for a coffee table, a nice and comfy chair, I need to find a lighting fixture for the ceiling and the room needs curtains.
I’m thinking about linen nutmeg coloured curtains. They don’t need to be lined as we use the rolling-blinds for privacy and lined curtains only work for small bedroom windows I think. Eventually there will be a small wood-burner in this room as it gets nippy in winter with it’s high ceilings.
