Chunky Mittens

It’s cold right? Maybe not when you are on the other side of the world, but at my end it’s bitterly cold. I just wanted to go out for my walk but Boris told me off as (in his magical Narnia world) I’d freeze to death and nobody will find me for weeks. He also said that I should call my friend, Sofie, so I wouldn’t be alone. Well poor Sofie she’d be dying with me. Men … alas, I stayed home and bring you super easy and fast to make chunky mittens.

Keep warm xox

The ixxi Loco Giveaway Winners

Thank you all for participating. Boy I love a good giveaway – always more to come!

Meet The Blogger London

It’s official, I’ll be the keynote speaker at Meet The Blogger London. I’ll be also hosting a real fun workshop with the fabulous Will Taylor from Bright Bazaar. I don’t know which one I am most excited about …

There’s an interview with me on the MTB blog right now. It’s so cool to see pictures of oneself without knowing these pictures were taken and to see how much hair is grown back and how much weight is lost in the past few months. Well done me ;o)

I’m also really excited to meet up with some fun bloggers I only know through blogging. I can’t wait for Saturday night ‘cocktail night’ – people buy tickets so you can watch me dance, it’s very amusing.

And to top all this up with a beautiful cherry, Cath Kidston will be our sponsor for the workshop – the mothership has called me home.

Tickets on sale now

The Plastered Walls of Happiness

Three days of freezing cold rooms, white dust everywhere, plaster men walking in and out using my toilet without washing their hands and enormous amount of coffee making later and I have a beautiful plastered living room.

Do you remember this, just before Christmas? I love plaster and paint!!!

It’s drying out amazingly fast using that red beast in the middle of the room. Do you see that tank filled with water? That’s just from this morning. It’s sucking out the water fast enough so that I can start thinking about paint and fabric.

And although we first need to get the old floor out and a new one in, attach the molding to the ceiling, tile the fireplace and get the wood burner installed I’ve made a colour guide already, just to keep me going.

My hands are itching, I can’t wait to start decorating this beautiful white canvas only after living in it’s brown ugliness for the past 4 years.

ixxi Loco Giveaway

In light of talking to friends for the documentary I’m working on we went to my buddy, Roel one of the ixxi inventors. Roel and I talked about ixxi but we also talked about a project the both of us are working on. Finally, it’s something we wanted to do for the past 13 years but never happened.

Roel, ixxi and Studio Parade share this former hospital soup kitchen set in the city centre of my home town ‘s-Hertogenboch in The Netherlands.

We both felt a bit like Theo & Thea sat behind Roel’s desk talking paper and design, but we had such a laugh.

And to give this post a happy end I’m allowed to give 2 of my readers an ixxi Loco each! The winners can either pick yellow or pink.

All you have to do is leave a comment before Tuesday the 22nd of January and I’ll draw a winner. It would be utterly cool if you could like ixxi on Facebook or follow them on Twitter just to be a good sport and only if you have an account, it will not influence your chance to win.

This giveaway is open to yvestown readers worldwide – YAY!

My Debut

Men alive I’m recovering from yet another vicious cold. I think it’s one of the worst I’ve ever had.

Well the worst cold I’ve ever had was in January/February of 1998 while I was about to move to Denmark to study architecture while I had a fling with a guy named, Piet, just one month before I met Boris. Those were some crazy months as I recall that Piet (whom I had a 2 weekend-stand with) had to drop medicine in my eyes as my tear ducts were broken due to hard coughing. While I met Piet (the brother of one of my flat mates) I was on the ment and was planning my Denmark life so I didn’t choose to go on and start a relationship with him. But as it happens just a month later, exactly the 14th of March, I met Bo and knew I had to blow off my whole future Danish life as I met the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. That’s why I never forget that cold, or became an architect.

So finally back to blogging again as I have so much to share with you.

Let me first tell you what have kept me busy the past few weeks and some weeks before Christmas and what is going to keep me busy for the next few weeks.

Remember this post? It got so much better after that post.

I’m going to be on TV after all. Nothing fake, nothing weird but something so fun and artsy that I can’t wait to watch it myself. It’s a documentary on bloggers and what keeps us busy as bloggers. For a period of 12 weeks Belgian viewers will watch me bake, garden, shop, visit friends, see me paint my living room and travel with me to London where I’ll speak at Meet The Blogger. But they can also watch Sofie from Fashionata travel to New York City to attend Fashion Week and learn how to sew a skirt from Mamasha. This documentary will air on a channel that currently re-runs The Gilmore Girls … do I have to say more?

Today we had a meeting about the official website which will launch sometime next week. Also tomorrow episode ONE will be made which will air early March. The word excitement is an understatement of how I feel right now as I’m super excited and love working with the team in the image above, shot in the home of my friend, Roel, last week.

Thank you so much for commenting on that one post. It made me so aware of what I do and don’t want. I so believe I’m moving towards the right direction, it makes me happy.

Lots more to come.

Pinterest

I just want to let you know that I am back on Pinterest.

Last year I got cold feet and pulled the plug. But now that Pinterest changed their policies I feel happy to pin along again.

This still doesn’t change my opinion about linking back properly and giving credits to those who deserve the credits.
